Access Statement For Tower House Executive Guest House
Introduction
Rich in history and comfort, a stunning Victorian home restored to it's original elegance We have 6 guest bedrooms, 1 of which is on the ground floor which is close to the entrance, is wheelchair accessible and is provided with grab-rails for toilet and shower in the ensuite. The Shower is wheelchair accessible and also has a seat.
- Pre-Arrival
- We are located on the edge of Pontefract town centre a walk of approx 10mins
- There is a bus stop close to the rear entrance of the property and there is a frequent bus service.
- There are three train stations 1 only 5 mins walk and the others 10mins walk.
- There are a number of local taxi services that have accessible taxis if required. We can supply contact numbers so that you can make a booking if required.
- Radar toilets are located behind the library in the town centre.
- Menus can be provided in large print if necessary we regret we do not have the facilities to prepare documents in Braille.

- Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
- Please advise us of your anticipated arrival time so that we can be sure we are there to welcome you.
- To ensure your accommodation is ready we ask that guests do not normally arrive before 5pm, earlier arrival may, however, be possible by arrangement.
- On arrival, we ask all guests to call at the rear of the property where reception is located. The entrance has security lighting.
- Parking is on a slightly sloped block paved area directly in front of the reception for ample room of up to 8 cars.
- We are able to assist guests with luggage if this is required.
- Main Entrance & Reception
- The entrance to the guesthouse is either through the reception which has a slightly raised threshold to the patio doors, or through the rear entrance which is wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair. The door is always locked but we do have a bell press at a height of 126cm. There is a small raised threshold from the reception into the corridor leading to the ground floor room.
- Reception closes at 9pm prompt.
- On arrival guests are required to complete our registration form and are then shown to their rooms and our facilities explained.
- Seating is provided in our lounge which has a small threshold.
- All pricing is available at both entrances.
- Additional keys are available on request.
- Public Areas - General (Internal)
- Our dining room and 1 wheelchair accessible en-suite room are on the ground floor. The ground floor corridor leading to the wheelchair accessible room, guest lounge, and dining room and also to our front/ side/ rear entrance/exit is 90cm wide and is carpeted.
- The covering on the stairs and upstairs corridors is short pile fitted carpet. There are 14 stairs leading to the first floor with three bedrooms (1 double & 1 Suite & 1 twin room all en-suite.)
- There are 12 stairs leading to a smaller landing with 2 bedrooms (1 double, & 1 twin all en-suite)
- The stairs are 20cm high 25cm deep and 84cm wide.
- Public Areas - WC
- All 6 bedrooms are en-suite, there is no public WC available.
- Restaurant / Dining Room, Bar & Lounges, Take Away & Cafe
- Breakfast is served in our Dining Room on the ground floor the entry is level and the door width is 78cm
- There are 4 tables, 2 seating 2 people and 2 seating 4 people. Chairs are without arms and tables are 76cm high
- Menus may be provided in larger print by prior arrangement.
- Vegetarian and other diets can be catered for.
- Guests are welcome to use the lounge at any time. Straight back chairs can be moved into the lounge from the dining room but space is limited.
- The lounge has 2 sofas and is carpeted. A selection of magazines are available.
- Laundry
- Laundry service is provided and a detailed tariff list is available in each bedroom.
- There is a launderette within a 10min walk in the town centre.
- Shop
- The nearest shopping facility is within a 5 minute walking distance. A wide range of shops are available in Pontefract town centre or at the Outlet village 10mins drive away.
- Leisure Facilities
- Various leisure facilities including swimming pool and gyms are available within the town centre and is 10mins walk.
- Xscape snow dome is 10mins drive away.
- Outdoor Facilities
- Our outside area is blocked paved and provides guests with patio tables and chairs.
- Pontefract Castle is only 5mins walk and Pontefract Park and Racecourse is 15mins walk.
- Bedrooms
- Central heating is fitted throughout the house. The temperature of each guest bedroom is controlled by thermostatic controls on the radiators. The beds are made with synthetic duvets in the winter months and sheets and blankets in summer. All pillows are synthetic.
- Each bedroom has a 'hospitality tray' with tea, coffee, fruit teas, biscuits and a bottle of mineral water.
- In each room there is a hairdryer, a clock radio/alarm and a TV/DVD with remote control.
- Each room has storage space which consists of wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside cabinets and a large desk and leather chair.
- Separate seating is available in each room.
- Guests are provided with soft fluffy towels, Bathrobe, luxury toiletries.
- Average bed height is 58cm average width of doorways (room entrance) is 80cm. In en-suite doorways average width is 73cm average WC height is 40cm average height of wash basins is 80cm.
- Grounds and Gardens
- To the rear of the property we have a block paved patio area with patio table and chairs available to the guests.
- Additional Information
- Dogs and Children under 12yrs are not welcome-sorry we do not have the facilities to accommodate small children.
- We are totally non smoking
- Mobile phone reception is generally good.
- Fire extinguishers are located on all floors and we are able to use the front, rear and side entrances should evacuation be necessary.
- The fire alarm rings continuously if evacuation is needed. If you need assistance in this kind of emergency (e.g hearing impairment) please let us know on arrival and we will ensure you are evacuated safely.
- We are happy to refrigerate any medication. We can also keep any perishables (such as Creams or food) in our fridge for a limited period.
- We are happy to cater for special diets or any particular likes or dislikes. Please advise us before your arrival.
- A selection of local information is available in our display in the entrance hall.
- There are 2 folders in each bedroom, 1 detailing all the routines and emergencies and general information for guests and 1 which gives tourist in formation about the surrounding areas.
